Canopy Bridge DedicationThe Board of Trustees of the South Suburban Park Foundation includes community leaders with a wide variety of experience. They share a commitment to the goals of providing recreation opportunities and instilling a sense of land stewardship in our community.

 

 

 

 

BEVERLY J. BRADSHAW, CHAIR

Beverly Bradshaw, a Foundation Trustee since 1982, has been active for many years in the City of Englewood as a community and recreation advocate.  She has served on the Englewood City Council from 1980 to 1987 and from 1997 to 2005. Significantly, she served as the Mayor 2001-2003.  Currently, Beverly is very involved with the South Platte River Working Group as well as teaching psychology, speech, and sociology at Arapahoe Community College.

DALLAS HALL, FIRST VICE-CHAIR
Dallas Hall A concerned community activist and life time resident of the south metro area, Dallas is serving as a member of the Sheridan City Council. Throughout many years his family, wife, daughter and son, have actively used the trails and he is very excited to continue improving and creating more trails throughout the metro area. Since his participation as a Trustee in the late 1990's, he has truly demonstrated his commitment to parks, trails and open space.

MARY BRADFORD, SECOND VICE-CHAIR

Mary Bradford has lived in Littleton since 1959. She and deceased husband Brad Bradford have been involved with and supported a wide variety of important civic and community endeavors. Mary has served on numerous community boards and continues to be a leading force in the Littleton, South Metro community, including the South Suburban Community Partners. She is president of Bradford Auto Body, Inc. and was elected a Trustee of the Foundation in 1998.

KLASINA VANDERWERF, SECRETARY

Klasina serves as the co-chairperson of the Cherry Hills Village Open Space, Parks and Trails Committee and is a founding member of the Cherry Hills Land Preserve, dedicated to acquiring and preserving open space. Through her years of experience, Klasina provides invaluable skills in marketing and fund raising for non-profit organizations. Additionally, her prior vocation has been in the teaching arena.

C. DALE FLOWERS, TREASURER

C. Dale Flowers is a charter Trustee of the Foundation. He was elected Chair in January of 1996 following the death of Mary Carter and served for five years in that office.  He has served as Treasurer of the Foundation since 1993 and continues in that job. Since moving to the Denver area in 1972, he has been involved in the management and marketing of numerous regional shopping centers and other commercial properties. In 1993 he became involved in the construction and marketing of new homes. He currently owns his own company, Flowers & Associates, Inc., providing graphic arts services to a variety of clients. Dale has lived in the Littleton area since 1973, and currently serves as a Trustee of the Littleton Riverfront Authority and is president-elect of the Rotary Club of Littleton; in addition, he is past Chairman of Goodwill Industries of Denver.

STANLEY BROWN, JR.

Stan Brown Stan Brown was elected a Trustee of the Foundation in 1998. He is a native of South Denver and grew up in his family's nursery business, which has been growing for over 50 years. Stan and his brother have developed Alameda Wholesale Nursery into one of the largest wholesale nurseries in the state. Stan has served on the boards of Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado, The Colorado Nursery Association and Xeriscape Colorado.

CARRIE McLAUGHLIN

Carrie McLaughlin, a resident of Bow Mar for 23 years, Colorado for 45 years, is a definite Coloradian. For multiple years her services included event planning, fundraising, and volunteer work and in 1994 she began her own landscape design business. Carrie loves her work and the opportunity to create gardens and outdoor spaces that work for people and allow them to enjoy the outdoors. My past experiences have included working as a trustee at the Denver Botanic Gardens and currently, she is a member of the North American Rock Garden Society.

BART MILLER

Bart Miller

Mr. Bart Miller currently serves as a member of the Centennial City Council representing Ward II as well as serving as Centennial Mayor Pro Tem. Initially elected to the City Council in February 2001, he is one of the original members of the Centennial Steering Committee and worked on the creation of Centennial from 1998 through 2001. Mr. Miller has also served as the Chair of the Centennial Election Commission and on City Council he served on the Financial Services and Budget Committee. Presently, he is a senior attorney as well as a team leader of the Business Team at this office and participates in the overall management of the agency.

JAMES A. TAYLOR

James Taylor Mr. Taylor, elected in 2001 as a Littleton City Council member, has resided in Littleton for more than 30 years.  He is the City's DRCOG board member, a board member of the Littleton Housing Authority and the Riverfront Urban Renewal Authority, liaison to the Historic Downtown Littleton Merchants Association, and is on the National League of Cities Steering Committees for Community and Economic Development and Small Cities Council.  He served on the South Suburban Park and Recreation Board from 1986 to 2000.  Jim retired from Sheridan School District (1957-1992), last serving as Principal of Sheridan Middle School.  Jim's term as President of the Council (Mayor) ends in November, 2007, unless re-elected by his fellow council members to another two year term.

SHARON VAN RAMSHORST

Sharon Van Ramshorst Ms. Sharon Van Ramshorst, a Lone Tree resident for nearly 25 years, was involved in organizing the first homeowners association in Lone Tree in 1983.  Sharon has continued to be actively involved since that time serving numerous years as President as well as in other capacities of her HOA.  She served on the Douglas County Board Adjustment from 1987 - 1992.  She was actively involved in obtaining trails/parks/open space in her community and worked closely with South Suburban Parks and Recreation and Douglas County in that effort.  Currently she is serving a four-year term as a member of the Lone Tree City Council.

COLIN E. WALDON

Colin Waldon Colin Waldon has lived in Colorado since 1956.  A geologist by education, he began his career as a geologist at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.   He returned to the west where he worked in oil, gas and coal exploration in Utah, Wyoming, Montana and Colorado before moving to Breckenridge, Colorado where he worked as Summit County's first Geologist, then as Director of Planning and Zoning and finally as County Manager.  Colin and his family moved to Littleton in 1977.  He owed a general contracting company and a commercial real estate appraisal business.  Colin is a board member of Santa Fe Conservation Trust.  He and his wife reside in Greenwood Village and work with a family charitable foundation.
